Life: The Pinterest Diaries

Lately, I've been feeling the cool fall days and nights. And judging by my habits (and pins), it's clear I'm preparing for winter. Lots of layers, oversized sweaters, coffee at all hours of the day, comfort foods, wool socks and mittens - it's clear winter's on its way.

And my pins lately? Right on track. I'm thinking hibernation might be in order...

Life: We Are Family.

My Halloween weekend could not have been any better - apart from the candy, Halloween movies and cool weather, my mom and aunt were in town! And somehow, just like that, it's Sunday already and I'm sad to see them go!

But I have to say, our weekend was amazing. From Uptown to Downtown and even campus, I made sure they had the full Minnesota experience this weekend. I can't wait until their next visit!

In the past week, my family came to town. We ate - a lot. A lot a lot a lot. I don't think I can emphasize that enough. The Lowry, Uptown Diner, Punch - the best. I drank mimosas and old fashions like it was my job, marveled at the pretty fall leaves and was terrified the FURBIES are back. I went to Austin (still not sure if things are bigger in Texas) and got rowdy with my favorite German friend. I drank a lot of Airborne, ate way too much candy and got snail mail from my sister (holy sheet, right?) I jumped for joy over the rainy fall days, listened to a little Coldplay and celebrated Sweetest Day with the boy.

How could this week possibly beat the next? I guess we'll see!

Celebrate: Just a Little Hocus Pocus

It's no surprise that October is one of my favorite months. Cool weather, bright colored leaves, pumpkins, cider and everything else fall. Another reason I love October? Halloween, of course!

It's not the dressing up that I'm a fan of - I could do without it. What I do love is eating candy, cuddling up under a blanket and watching scary movies. While I may have nightmares for a night or so, there's nothing better than being spooked on All Hallows' Eve.

And tonight, I'm watching one of my favorite Halloween movies, Hocus Pocus. While I'm not entirely certain it should have been labeled a children's movie, it's one of my favorites none-the-less.

If you haven't seen it yet... well, I can't even begin to explain how wrong that is.

Happy Halloween!

Fit: Girl on the Run

While the above title definitely describes my life lately (I've been a little hectic these past few weeks) it also describes my exercising habits. While all I really want to do when I get home is crawl into bed and watch Netflix all night long, it's one of my goals to get back into running again. And with a few local races coming up early next year, it's time to hit the pavement.

And even on nights like tonight, where it's only 35 degrees outside, it's already 7 p.m. and I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open, it's things like this that keep me going.

See you soon!

Life: Hello, October

|| via ||

And just like that, it's October.

Apologies for my absence last week (let's just say a 40+ hour work week and a migraine do not go well together.) But thankfully, after a few days of soreness and sleep, I'm almost back to normal. And thank goodness for that, because it's finally October.

While my favorite month is probably December (Christmas, my birthday, holiday music etc.), October is close behind in the number two spot. Colorful leaves, chilly weather, pumpkins, apples, blankets and wool socks - I can't think of anything I dont like about October.

And now that one of my favorite months is here, I can't wait to celebrate all that fall has to offer.

In October, I plan to:

1. Go to an apple orchard (check that one off the list already!)
2. Make homemade apple pie
3. Carve a pumpkin
4. Hand out candy to Trick-or-Treaters
5. Watch Hocus Pocus (a Halloween favorite!)
6. Drink hot chocolate
7. Buy a new scarf, hat and mittens
8. Take a walk by the lakes
9. Sleep in and drink coffee in bed
10. (Is it too early for me to say this?) Start shopping for Christmas!
